Driver Welfare
The European Working Time Directive seeks to limit the number of hours a driver can work in a specified period. Employers and employees alike have an obligation under the law and are jointly responsible for monitoring and controlling driver hours in real time.
Also the Duty of Care (Manslaughter) Act is enacted under Health and Safety at Work legislation and provides an obligation of employers to monitor, control, and keep a record of driver performance to ensure acceptable use of company vehicles or vehicles used for company business.
The responsibility for an employee causing a road fatality through dangerous driving can be that of the company directors if it cannot be shown that due care and attention has been exercised to control employee driving habits.
Under certain circumstances, driver profile management can help mitigate both employer and employee responsibilities under the Act and Directive.
Driver Training
The collected driver profile data can be filtered into exception alerts and directed to driver training and retraining programs as and when necessary.
